How to Choose Barber Clippers: A Buyer's Guide for Oman

2 July 2026

Choosing a clipper is the highest-impact equipment decision a barbershop makes — it is in your hand for most of the working day. Here is what actually matters.

Corded vs cordless

  • Corded clippers deliver constant power and never die mid-fade. Best as the main workhorse on a busy station.
  • Cordless models give you freedom around the chair and are ideal as a second clipper. Check the stated runtime: 90 minutes or more handles a full afternoon; anything less means charging between clients.
  • Many barbers run one of each: corded for bulk work, cordless for detail and around the ears.

Motor type in plain language

  • Rotary motors balance power and quiet running — the best all-rounder for mixed hair types, including thick hair.
  • Magnetic motors are fast and light but can bog down in dense hair.
  • If a listing shows a duty rating or "professional / continuous use", that is the one built for salon days, not home trims.

Blades and maintenance

  • Look for stainless or titanium-coated blades — they hold an edge longer and resist corrosion in humid conditions.
  • Oil the blade daily (two drops), brush out hair between clients, and deep-clean weekly. A well-oiled clipper runs cooler and quieter.
  • Taper levers and included guard sets save you buying accessories separately — check what is in the box.

What to budget (OMR, incl. 5% VAT)

  • Entry professional (7–12 OMR): solid cordless trimmers and outliners for detail work.
  • Daily workhorse (12–19 OMR): heavy-duty corded clippers and LCD cordless models built for continuous use.
  • Full station setup: one workhorse + one detail trimmer + blade care items typically lands under 35 OMR.

Before you buy

  • Check the specifications table on each product page — weight, runtime and what's included are listed there.
  • Warranty coverage is shown per product; damaged or faulty items can be returned within 7 days of delivery.
  • Salon or barbershop owner? Apply for a trade account and the whole catalogue switches to wholesale pricing.
